Volunteer Work Day at the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial

Cedars members and friends were there, joining with more than 120 others for the volunteer workday on February 19th. Bainbridge Island’s Japanese American Exclusion Memorial was beautified for the upcoming Day of Remembrance that will mark the 80th anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which began the wartime incarceration of more than 120,000 Japanese Americans. For our Cedars participants, the activity was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our wider community, both past and present, while also connecting as a congregation through the joy of helpful industry.
