The Marvin Evans Reading Group is a small and welcoming gathering of friends who enjoy an ongoing practice in reading and discussing mutually selected titles that can inspire personal growth and perhaps spiritual insight — a practice that our late friend Marvin identified as “Salvation by Bibliography.”

Our history together began in 2007 and includes a decade as Cedars’ Spirituality Book Group, the reading and discussion of 50 titles representing a broad sampling of inspiring subjects, and a year-off for regathering strength and assuming a new and more open identity.

Several of our UU principles express commitments we affirm as we go forward: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations and A free and responsible search for truth and meaning.
