Green Sanctuary Committee
Cedars is a Unitarian Universalist Association accredited Green Sanctuary congregation. The chartered purpose of the Green Sanctuary Committee is to affirm and promote the Unitarian Universalist seventh principle: respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. The committee’s goals also reinforce our Cedars affirmation to take care of the Earth because it is our home.
In 2008, the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth, an organization of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, accredited Cedars Unitarian Universalist Church as a Green Sanctuary congregation. This congregation affirms and promotes the Unitarian Universalist seventh principal: “respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part” and affirms, at each Sunday service, our intent to “take good care of the Earth because it is our Home.”
The Cedars Green Sanctuary Committee focuses on raising the consciousness of the congregation and the community about issues of sustainability and earth justice—specifically zero waste and climate change—and offer opportunities to act on these as individuals and families, both in homes and as citizens of the local and global community.
